Thomas C. McCall, 72, of Brevard, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020. Originally from Macon County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Henry and Gertrude Carpenter McCall. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Henry McCall, JR., Raymond McCall, Edith Shonkwiler, Myrtle Newton, Katherine Barnett, Frank McCall, Leslie McCall and Jack McCall.
After losing his parents before the age of 14, he lived with his brother, Calvin while he was in high school until he joined the Army and went to Vietnam. On February 18, 1968 his vehicle was hit by a rocket and he was severely injured. He received his honorable discharge and was awarded a Purple Heart, 2 Bronze Stars and Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Medal.
After returning from Vietnam he and his wife Faye raised their four children and he helped to coach them in Little League and other sports. He also videoed Brevard High School Football games. To his children he was a hero that never quit. While he was always ready to help, he never asked for it.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Allison McCall; their children: Ricky McCall (Tracy Love), Tina McCall, Robbie McCall and Corey McCall (Ranille); grandchildren: Austin McCall, Emmary McCall and Ellasyn McCall; brothers Calvin McCall and Charles McCall (Elaine), and sister Jo McCall.
Funeral Services for Thomas McCall will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 19, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church in Brevard with Rev. Mark Baker officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until time for the service at the church. Interment will be held at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest with Military Rites provided by the North Carolina National Guard and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
