Richard Fletcher

Richard Neil Fletcher, 67, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Carroll and Sally Robinson Fletcher. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Fletcher.

Richard was a loving and caring son, husband, father, and papaw. He was devoted to the love of his life Janice. He was a lifelong resident of Transylvania County and was proud of his southern Appalachian roots. He took great pleasure talking about current events, politics, guns, muscle cars and bragging on his children and grandchildren given the opportunity. He was happiest when he could spend time playing with his grandchildren but also teach them about his passions.

He was a MOPAR enthusiast who loved wrenching on motors and going to watch drag racing and NASCAR. He and Janice loved riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles on the backroads of the Blue Ridge Mountains and taking road trips to bike rallies in Daytona and Sturgis.

He was a baseball and football fan who enjoyed watching the Braves and Cowboys. He was an avid sportsman and deer hunter who devoted a lot of his free time to roaming the great outdoors. He could be found camping, hunting, fishing or just shooting guns with family.  He and Janice made sure their beloved dogs were always included in their ventures.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Morgan Fletcher; children Roger Fletcher (Alecia), Brian Fletcher (Kishia), Lacey Frizzell (Mark) and David Cagle; grandchildren: Madison, Charlotte, Eleanor, Adalyn, Eliana, Lorelei, LeAnna, Colton, Grady, Maybrie, Haiden and Ella; his brothers Jerry and David Fletcher and his sisters Susan Kirby and Laura Cassell.
