Joseph Bracken

Joseph Eugene “Gene” Bracken, 72, of Brevard, NC, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at his residence.  A native of Transylvania County, he was a son of Annie Golden Bracken and the late Joe Bracken. In addition to his father, he is also preceded in death by a brother Van Bracken.

Gene is an Army veteran, serving our country from November 18, 1964 to November 19, 1967.

His service included Vietnam from July 1966 to July 1967. He retired from DuPont where he worked in maintenance for 30 years.

He loved camping and working on cars but his passion was spending time with his family and hearing his grandchildren call him “Pappy”.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rachel Lance Bracken, one son; Jason E. Bracken (Jessica) of Rosman, NC, three grandchildren, his little sweethearts, Kenley and Khloe Bracken and Zachary Green, four brothers; Robert, Henry, Jack and Frankie Bracken, two sisters; Janie Brown and Tenny Dodd and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with Rev. Todd Alewine officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm-3:30 pm at Moore-Blanchard Funerals & Cremations.
