Jeannie Marie Maxwell

September 25, 1943 ~ April 13, 2022 (age 78)

Jeannie Marie Maxwell, 78, of Tuckasegee, passed away on April 13, 2022. A native of Pensacola, FL., she was the daughter of the late Bruce and Marian Walter Gannaway.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter, Heather Slater.

A hard-working woman of many skills and talents including that of a civil-rights activist, it was always the simple things that made Jeannie the happiest. She enjoyed nature, being around her friends and family, and never complained. She was always doing something…usually something for someone else.

It was important to her that everyone know that she loved them, and just how much she loved them, so she was not afraid to tell them…often. Especially her family who she leaves behind for a short time: her sons Dustin Maxwell (Lauren Varas) and Danne Slater; grandchildren: Alexandria Swindling, Dustin Maxwell, Jr., Tatiana Renaudo, Shiloh Maxwell, Carmelo Maxwell and Christopher Lee Slater; 3 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Tom Gannaway and sister-in-law, Susan Gannaway.

Arrangements for a celebration of her life will be announced in the coming days.
