Frank Kirkland Creech, Jr.

November 19, 1932 ~ June 22, 2021 (age 88)

Frank Kirkland Creech, Jr., 88, passed away peacefully at his Brevard, N.C., home on June 22, 2021. A native of Atlanta, he was the son of the late Frank Kirkland and Lucille King Creech. In addition to his parents, two daughters, Carole Creech Rohrbaugh and Kristina Creech Grimes, preceded him in death.

Loving survivors include his wife of nearly 48 years, Elizabeth, sons, Frank Kirkland Creech III and wife Kathryn of LaGrande, Ore., and Samuel Creech and wife Carolyn Dayton of Horse Shoe, N.C.; daughtersm Claire Creech of Decatur, Ga., and Karen Creech Bozeman and husband Rusty of Pelham, Ala.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Frank was a 1955 graduate of Stetson University. After a stint in the 101st Airborne, U.S. Army, he first pursued his love of music, teaching at Sandy Springs High School and the Westminster Schools in Atlanta, and directing several church choirs in the Atlanta area. For a time, he played trombone with the Atlanta Symphony.  His love of people moved him into the field of counseling and ultimately to a 20 year career with the U.S. Probation Office, Northern District of Georgia, in Atlanta.

During his retirement years, Frank cultivated an interest in antique art glass. He and Elizabeth made presentations to collecting groups as far away as the UK, making many friends along the way, and together they wrote numerous articles for publication. He served as co-chair of the Connestee Falls Good Neighbors organization as well as the Judicial Committee. Frank loved everything about his mountain home, especially the wonderful people he encountered and befriended. A special delight was cruising in his little red sports car on curvy mountain roads.

No services are planned. The family asks that anyone wishing to honor Frank’s memory do so by performing an unexpected act of kindness for a fellow human being, mirroring one of Frank’s greatest pleasures in life.
