Claudia Osby

September 9, 1931 — September 9, 2019

Claudia Marie Osby, 88, of Brevard, passed away on September 9, 2019 at Memorial Mission Hospital after battling various health issues.

Claudia is survived by her sister Marilyn Tysen; brother Maurice Sampson; daughter Sonja Moore (Jerry); son, Donald Osby (Mary Ann); grandchildren: Shannon Winkelman (Patrick); Tony Rutledge (Jaami); Louise Patterson; Olivia Osby (Scott) and great-grandchildren: Blaine Gundersen, June Roberts, Louis Patterson, Natalie Patterson, Noelle Patterson, Ariaana Rutledge and Gabriella Rutledge.

Claudia was born in Wheatfield, Indiana, the daughter of Inez Fleener-Sampson and Maurice Sampson, the eldest of three children. She married Robert “Bob” Osby on October 23, 1947.

When her children started school, Claudia worked in the banking industry. She and Bob moved to Brevard in 1971 to be close to their children and grandchildren. Twenty years later, Bob retired from his job as a commercial contractor and began construction on Claudia’s dream home. The home was completed in 1994.

Her home brought her joy as the center of feasts for family and friends, holidays, crafting sessions, grandchildren playing and passing down her special recipes.

Claudia was a superb cook and loved to host gatherings. Her grandchildren spent many hours by her side in the kitchen learning her special recipes. She was a member of Happy Hands Extension Homemaker’s Club for many years.

The family will host a small memorial service at the Osby home at a later date.

Memorial donations in her name can be made to a hospice provider of your choice.
