Following his retirement Bruno moved to Saint Augustine where he was a communicant at Trinity Episcopal Church and served for many years as an usher.  He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Saint Andrews, Vestry and served on the garden committee.

Serving on the Garden committee was natural for him as of first importance to Bruno was conservation.  He believed in planting trees wherever he could do so.   He was a life member of the Nature Conservancy, Save the Redwoods, the Sierra Club, and the American Forestry Association and held memberships in other conservation organizations.
