Ann Owen

Ann Elaine Rogers Owen, 85, of Brevard, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 6, 2021 after a lengthy struggle with MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) known as myelodysplacia.

The daughter of the late John Edison Rogers and Helen Stiles Rogers of Brevard, Mrs. Owen was born in Macon County, but lived in Transylvania County most of her life. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Callie Marie Owen and in 2018, by her beloved husband of sixty-three years, James Furman Owen.

Mrs. Owen retired as the bookkeeper of Ridge Haven Conference Center, PCA in 2000. Her joy was in serving the Lord by serving others. She held various church offices through the years and supported organizations her sons were involved in during their youth. She was a member of the Hugh Rogers Chapter of the DAR in Haywood County, named for her great-great-great-great-grandfather.

Mrs. Owen is survived by her three sons and their spouses: James and Carolyn Owen of Brevard, Stanley and Darla Owen of Brevard and Robert and Linda Owen of Lake Toxaway; seven grandchildren: Cassie, Cole, Charly Ann, Christy, Ameran, Christopher and Travis; fifteen great-grandchildren: Christian, Kaitlyn, Kyleigh, Kinslee, Khloe, Reagan, Kennedy, Gentree, Bailey, Mason, Gracin, Owen, Gwen, Myna and Journey.

Also surviving are three sisters: Frances (Carroll) Jones of Brevard, Ruby Sprouse of Brevard and Pat (Grady) Hooper of Rockwood, MI and one brother, Bill (Velma) Rogers of Etowah; four nieces and three nephews of the Rogers family also survive as well as a sister-in-law, Paulette Owen.

A private graveside service will be held at Mack McCall Cemetery, near her beloved home church, Macedonia Baptist Church, in the Silversteen Community of Lake Toxaway with Rev. Wayne Owen and Rev. Allen Aiken officiating.
