Mr. Russell Camp. Sr., 93, of Brevard, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2019. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Fred and Ethel Camp. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his son, Russell Camp, Jr., Roberta Camp and granddaughter, Lea Whitmire, brothers Fred Camp, Everette Camp, Leo Camp, Wade Camp and Garfield Camp and sisters Vernice Coleman and Nell Camp.
A member of Glade Creek Baptist Church in Pisgah Forest, Mr. Camp had worked as a brick mason and had also worked as a Deputy for the Transylvania County Sheriff’s Office. He had served on the City Board and also on a board committee for NASCAR.
His loving survivors include his children Marguerite Chatman, Monica Gilmore, Jerome Camp, Emogene Bennett and Patience Camp; grandchildren Keith Bennett, Danielle Bennett, Nigel Ormsby, Kristen Camp, Elisha Camp, Xochitl Suarez Camp, 2 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Camp will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Glade Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Suber officiating.
